Despite the messy morning, the skies parted long enough at night for the fashion flock to strap on their most sizzling heels and toast Net-a-Porter’s latest addition, Sarah Rutson, vice president of global buying.

The esteemed fashion insider dubbed the “Queen of Hong Kong” by Alison Loehnis came from retailer Lane Crawford and acted as the guest of honor at Indochine, where Loehnis and Natalie Massenet played host to a bevy of fashion fanatics.
Taking in the haute setting were designers Tamara Mellon, Paul Andrew, Phillip Lim, and Jason Wu, while bright young things like Lily Kwong, Kate Young, and Caroline Issa sipped on cocktails. As the evening progressed, fans were doled out as party favors. It seemed to mark a changing of the guard and the year entirely appropriate given that the dinner fell two days before the Chinese New Year.
“Tonight I chose a vintage 1950s kimono as I cannot say goodbye to the world I came from,” said Rutson, adding, “for my fresh start, it felt right to pay homage to the East.” Massenet then made brief remarks to the chic crowd, saying, “I can’t believe we’re here tonight,” before adding, “when I started Net-a-Porter, I don’t think I could have gotten a reservation here!” she joked.
