Amsterdam is reputed as a city of inspiration and this has inevitably influenced developments in world of fashion. It is for this reason that Amsterdam International Fashion Week (AIFW) is somewhat more progressive than fashion weeks in other cities. During the AIFW, commerce and creativity are combined. In addition to the bustling catwalks, a multitude of fashion events, lectures, exhibitions, performances and parties will take place. The Amsterdam International Fashion Week takes place from January 26th till January 30th 2011.
Amsterdam International Fashion Week started in 2004 as an initiative to put Amsterdam on the map as a sparkling and internationally oriented destination for Fashionistas. The schedule for the following days will be filled with new talented fashion designers, established names and trendsetting fashion labels some of them are Hunkemöller, Monique Collignon , Samira Algoe and Spijkers en Spijkers while in the last year of AIFW S/S 2011 the famous fashion designer Iris Van Herpen, Nicolaas and Franciscus Van Der Meer presetented their latest collection with many other famous designers . New names on the programme include Bas Kosters, Tony Cohen and Velour.
The Fashion Week will provide a platform for eight ambitious young designers. In addition to the fashion shows, the AIFW Winter 2011 will organize Downtown, a varied programme of fashion related activities open to the public that will open at the individuals brand store.
