Badgley Mischka Bridal Fall Collection 2017

Women look to Mark Badgley and James Mischka for intricate beading and ornate embroidery, so it’s no surprise their latest bridal offering provided plenty of visual eye-candy. This season they also offered considerable styling options to transition their opulent designs from the ceremony to reception. A detachable tiered ruffle and pleated tulle skirt, for example, turned a sensual curve-hugging mermaid-fit gown into something more elegant and soft. “What we’re finding is our bride is loving gowns that are transformable,” Badgley said during a walk-through.

The majority of styles were cut slim to accentuate curves, and allowed for easy layering. Other separates and detachable options included feathered and beaded sleeveless tops, lace long sleeves, embellished bodysuits, palazzo pants and maxiskirts. They were fun add-ons that provided a sense of customization. Even the sheer Art Deco backside of a gown and a few of the dramatic capes were detachable, like a delicate bodice top that trailed into a floor-length cape perfect pairing for elevating a simple slip gown. Additionally, the capes provided an alternative to veils but maintained the illusion.Apart from slimmer forms, there were voluminous skirts and fluid caftan silhouettes with a monastic quality for the destination bride.
