Drifting away from his usual Gothic Catholicism influences, the incredibly genius, Riccardo Tisci delivered a more pagan Givenchy woman, that had a very dark feel to it still, and a bit rough as well. Venturing into rugged jacquered leather vests, mixed with beautiful chiffon trousers and dresses, in a palette of black and white that were inspired by Robert Mapplethorpe photographs, but the brilliant pieces were the large scale leopard prints. While there’s a familiar formula to every Tisci collection, he is a mastermind at surprises.
The dreamy, gothic designs came in monochrome white and black, while most looks were infused with at least a slight touch of leopard print, which was toughened up when combined with leather motorbike gilets and tailoring. Sheer layers were also key to this collection, perhaps adding a touch of sexiness to the androgyny on show.
The collection ran close together, all seamlessly as part of one single vision, as created by Tisci. There was no elaborate gowns or high-glamour – it was darker, yet elegant, with tailored trousers, loosely fitted sheer pants and zipped up, sleeveless bodies.
