For Mary Alice Haney, pre-fall began with an iconic Terry O’Neill photograph of Faye Dunaway taken at the Beverly Hills Hotel the morning after she won an Oscar for her role in “Network” in 1977. “She’s wearing her heels at breakfast, but it’s this relaxed glamour,” Haney said.
Using luxe fabrics sourced from Europe, Haney’s collection, which is approaching its third year in business, had a feeling of ease, with many items riffing on loungewear. Case in point: an orange silk leopard-print slipdress. Elsewhere, a series of minidresses, many featuring low necklines, lace-up detailing or beaded accents, provided a more traditionally sexy counterpoint. A black silk chiffon skirt hand-painted with flowers looked chic when layered over a romper.
