It was at the heart of this unapologetically hard-edged collection, and came in the form of jackets and coats made from woven or embroidered leather, and trousers with a nubby texture or crinkled effect.
Speaking of the new Versace collection means to refer to a classical style but always in the forefront. the home of the label in the center of Milan Fashion Week to debut her latest 2011collection, Donatella Versace and Versace creative director Martyn Bal went with a mood respectively titled new wave that took the form of 3-D for fall 2011. Manifested in optical knits and quilted leather, the collection was reminiscent of a past Versace era, appropriate given the setting. Monochramitcs abound, leather, white shirts and pointed boots were at the heart of the hard-edged collection while skinny black ties were an added fix.
Often layered with sleeveless leather vests and belts that wrapped more than once around the body, the texture theme took charge with camel colored sweaters, turtlenecks and three-dimensional outerwear. It’s a collection for the grown men in all of us.
