Austin Fashion Week 2010 is all set up to hit the city of Austin on August 14 to August 21, 2010 as a series of events hosted primarily at participating retail and salon locations dotted throughout the city. Designers from the state of Texas will set up showcases within each participating retail and salon location. There will a special vetting community that will determine the best and brightest the state has to offer. Besides, it will look for those just launching their first lines, from clothing to jewelry to home furniture the committee is looking for everything.
In 2009, approximately 150 events occurred during Austin Fashion Week inside the participating retail and salon locations. This year there will be a huge number of statewide Photographers, Hairstylists, Makeup Artists and Models participating in the 2010 Austin Fashion Week Kickoff Event on August 14 to show over-the-top looks on a 120 feet runway to jaw-dropped attendees.
In addition to that Austin Fashion Week, participants will be competing for the Austin Fashion Awards in three major categories:
1) People’s Choice Awards: All participants are eligible to win People’s Choice Awards. The general public may vote online in categories like “Best Retail Store,” “Best Overall Designer” and more. The winners will be crowned with “Golden Boots” at the Austin Fashion Awards on August 21, 2010.
2) Critic’s Choice Awards: Approximately 100 of the city’s most fashion iconic personalities will vote on the Critic’s Choice panel. This group will be determining niche categories like “Best Handbag Designer,” “Best Use of Light in Photography” and more. The winners will be notified after the Austin Fashion Week is over,
3) Peer Choice Awards: New for 2010, participants in each official category receive one vote to cast for one of their peers. For instance, a participating photographer may vote for one other photographer as “Best Overall Fashion Photographer” for 2010. The Peer Choice Awards will be announced at the Austin Fashion Awards on August 21, 2010.
