Don’t assume all missing teenage children are runaways. Missouri law defines a runaway child as a missing child. (§ 43.400, RSMo 2023.)
You can monitor missing children posted from the city or state you live in with the NCMEC website. When a child’s poster is removed, it’s possible that the case was resolved or the poster was removed. Sometimes, when a child is listed, a poster hasn’t been added yet by the investigative agency.
The NCMEC is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation working with families and law enforcement to help locate these missing children. The NCMEC has a 24-hour Call Center that can be reached at 1-800-843-5678. This organization also helps to prevent abductions, recover missing children, and shut down child sexual exploitation.
Many wonder why AMBER Alerts are not issued for every missing child. It’s because they are issued for the most serious child-abduction cases.
Thank you for reading and sharing this information. Please help find these missing children.
