The Haute Joaillerie Sapphire Orbe, a fantastic timepiece that pushes luxury watchmaking and gem setting higher than ever.
Named after the river that crosses Le Brassus, Switzerland, Audemars Piguet’s hometown. This timepiece seems as though a glittering river of diamonds and sapphires, consolidating grade colours of blue and orange to represent the night merging into the day.
It’s a multifaceted design that gives an exquisite play of colour and lightweight, counting on the attitude from which you check out the watch.
Simply the gem-setting part required over 1,050 hours of fine craftsmanship. At the core of the Sapphire Orbe lies a 2 cm navy, sapphire-set globe, that opens up to reveal an outstanding 18-carat white gold dial which is additionally paved with 2794 brilliant-cut orange sapphires.
The domed centre houses a small quartz calibre which makes this watch tick.
Meanwhile, the fragile, petal-shaped rings that revolve around this concealed dial are snow-set with small diamonds and evaluated sapphires in 6 shades of blue and orange and 20 different measurements, starting from 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm in size. Altogether, this Haute joaillerie wonder has been studded with more than 12,000 precious stones, each of them carefully selected, separately cut and set by hand.
