Gone are the days of frumpy, loose maternity fashions that hang off of a pregnant woman, with the objective of hiding the bump – including Princess Diana’s in the ’80s. Now even a Duchess can dress that baby bump proudly with flattering styles that show off her growing tummy.
And nobody does maternity style better than the Duchess of Cambridge, who has stepped out in fabulous fashions over the course of her pregnancy during public appearances. From darling dresses to enviable overcoats, Catherine has proven that a pregnant woman’s wardrobe can be as stylish as ever.
Now here are our top 5 favourite maternity looks on the royal and regal mom of prince George Alexander Louis:
-
Go bold or go home! During her last solo public appearance before taking a maternity leave, Duchess Kate took a walk on the wild side, wearing a daring dalmatian-print Black and White coat from Hobbs. Her ensemble was finished off with a white clutch teamed with classic black heels and a matching fascinator.
-
The royal’s Jenny Packham lace empire-waisted dress was just peachy as she paired it with a complementary coat also by the British designer. Her Jane Taylor fascinator and LK Bennett nude heels were the perfect accessories to show off that burgeoning bump in style.
-
Taking her demure dress by her personal dressmaker to the next level, Kate chose a pretty peach twill coat by Paris designer Tara Jarmon to stay warm on a cool day in late April. On this outing the Duchess went without a head piece, letting her tousled tresses flow freely and she kept her accessories neutral with her trademark nude heels and a clutch in a similar hue.
-
The 31-year-old royal was beautifully blooming at the Queen’s Garden Party, with only a couple of months to go in her pregnancy, donning a bright yellow coat by Emilia Wickstead. She also wore a pastel blue cocktail number at the National Portrait Gallery reception in April, by the same designer. And Catherine showed how recycling fashions is on trend by wearing the same fascinator by Jane Corbett she wore to the Garter Day ceremony in 2012.
-
And last but definitely not least, we were a fan of Duchess Kate’s pastel Mulberry dress coat she wore to the Windsor Castle Scouts ceremony on April 21. She opted for a fawn pill box hat with a twist and further accessorized with her go-to LK Bennett heels and a matching clutch.
