LONDON SHOWS ON THE ROAD: London Show Rooms, the traveling pack of designers based in London, touched down in New York Tuesday for a two-day open house at Industria Superstudio. The collective, run by the British Fashion Council, included 22 designers — women’s, men’s and accessories — some of whom were part of the group that went to Los Angeles last week. Among the latter were Holly Fulton; Michael Van Der Ham, who took a pit stop at Coachella in between the two trips, and David Koma, who vacationed in Las Vegas over the weekend. Joining them in New York were Thomas Tait, Simone Rocha, Dominic Jones and Catherine Teatum and Rob Jones of Teatum Jones and Matthew Harding of Palmer Harding, among others. With the books already closed for fall orders, the event is more of press meet-and-greet/re-see for those who couldn’t make the trip to London Fashion Week.
The designers presented a small selection of their fall collections, and most had plans to visit the New York stores they’re currently sold in, and also research new ones. “It’s never really focused on buyers since their orders are in,” said Tait, whose U.S. retailers include Jeffrey, Louis Boston and Blake in Chicago, adding that he planned to check out Kirna Zabête and Fivestory while in New York.
