Soon after opting to cook some chicken thighs in my cast iron pan, I scrolled through a kitchen tip that would drastically alter the way I approach cleaning up after meals. It’s likely to do the same for you.
Content creator @HollyDormer demonstrated on TikTok how she gets rid of hot grease with nothing more complicated than a piece of aluminum foil and a kitchen sink. Simply line the drain in your sink with foil, pour the used grease in, and wait for it to solidify before wrapping the foil and throwing it in the trash.
@hollydormer Never going back. Who else does this? #lifehackvideo #standardpractice #lifehack #baconhack #grease
The whole procedure is painless and without a mess, and you’ll once again regret not coming up with this idea sooner. Since Holly first shared the tip in 2022, this trick is obviously not entirely new to us at The Kitchen, and it’s possible that it’s not new to you as well.
However, a fresh perspective on the film has been provided by the @spiritualword Instagram account, providing additional folks (like myself) the chance to have the hack close at hand. Personally, I’m of the school that believes that used cooking oil should be poured into jars and hidden around the house until you run out of places to put them.
This is the same school that recently accepted some spillage as a result of not pouring the grease into the jar carefully enough with shaky hands. And to be quite honest, I still have a few jars of grease that have accumulated over the years that are ready to be thrown out in my freezer and cupboard.
Now, I can certainly discard the frozen jar, but I’ll be breaking out the aluminum foil and using this practical culinary trick for the jar that’s already resting in my cupboard.
