J’Adore Frazier was last seen around 4 pm on Friday, June 6, at the home of his legal guardians in the Brainerd neighbourhood on the city’s south side, according to a statement from the Chicago Police Department. He’s not been seen since.

At the time, J’Adore was wearing a beige tracksuit and black trainers. He’s described as an African American boy with a medium brown complexion, around 3 feet 8 inches tall and weighing roughly 60 pounds.

Police suspect that the boy was taken by his biological father, 43-year-old Christopher Upshaw, and both of them are now missing. A photo of the pair has been released to the public in the hope someone might recognise them or their vehicle.

Upshaw is described as an African American male, also with a medium brown complexion, standing about 6 feet tall and weighing 175 pounds. It’s unclear what he was wearing at the time, but police say he’s believed to be driving a beige Cadillac sedan with black rims and dark-tinted windows.

The car’s licence plate number hasn’t been shared yet, which has made the search more difficult. Still, authorities are urging anyone with information—no matter how small—to come forward.

“If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of these two individuals, please contact the Area Two detectives at 312-747-8274 or call 911,” Chicago Police said in the release, as reported by CBS News.

So far, police haven’t said whether there’s an official Amber Alert in place, and they haven’t confirmed any potential locations where Upshaw may have been heading. The situation has naturally left the family shaken and desperate for answers.

No further details have been released about why the boy was living with his grandparents or the circumstances that led to the suspected abduction. But what is clear is that J’Adore’s loved ones are beside themselves with worry and simply want him home safe.

The story is sadly one of many involving missing children in the US, with family abductions making up a large portion of cases. The longer a child remains missing, the more difficult the recovery becomes, which is why officials are pushing the public for help as soon as possible, Fox 32 Chicago.

If you’re in the area or know anyone who might be, keep an eye out for the boy or the beige Cadillac, and contact police with any information, no matter how minor it may seem.
