The ‘I Knew You Were Trouble’ singer almost had to walk the red carpet in rags on Monday’s evening (05.05.14) when her beloved feline friend Meredith unleashed her claws on Taylor’s stunning pale pink Oscar de la Renta dress just before the prestigious event in New York City.
Taylor Swift looked stunning in her Oscar de la Renta gown at Monday night’s white tie Met Costume Gala, despite the best efforts of her cat, Meredith. Earlier in the day, Taylor tweeted about a near-disaster involving her wardrobe.
When Swift, 24, tweeted about the attack on her gown on Monday before that evening’s Costume Institute Gala in New York, fans found it ah-mewsing. More than 15,000 people favorited her tweet, and more than 7,500 retweeted it.
Swift didn’t go into detail about how damaged the gown was, although she sent the tweet less than four hours before stars were expected to begin arriving at the event. And when she later showed up on the red carpet, her pink satin gown appeared intact which boasted intricate feathered embroidery and a train so long that she needed assistance to get up the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.
Taylor couldn’t get over her luck at being dressed by Oscar de la Renta for the A-list event. She gushed: "Oscar de la Renta is the designer I’ve idolized since I was a little girl. Having an opportunity to wear a one-of-kind gown designed by him is a daydream realized."
The country starlet got ready for the big night at the nearby Surrey Hotel with her close friend, Victoria’s Secret model Karlie Kloss. Taylor posted a picture of the pair puckering up on her Instagram account, showing them applying lipstick with a glass of champagne in hand.
