Tommy Hilfiger is publishing a memoir detailing his journey from childhood to the founding of his multibillion-dollar brand.

Tommy Hilfiger is ready to tell his own story. The 63-year-old designer, whose classic, all-American style blends pop culture with preppie, will publish a memoir with Ballantine Books, an imprint of Random House. The book will chronicle personal stories from Hilfiger’s early childhood in Elmira, N.Y., growing up the second of nine children, to his origins in the fashion industry (The People’s Place and Murjani) to building a multibillion-dollar brand. The book is said to explore the setbacks and triumphs along the way and the “sheer determination” that drove him to create a global lifestyle brand.

“Reflecting on my experiences in the fashion industry over the last 30-plus years has been a wild ride, filled with milestone moments that have defined both my career and personal life,” said Hilfiger. “I always believe the best is yet to come, but so far: it’s been the adventure of a lifetime.”

Publication is scheduled for the fall, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the Tommy Hilfiger brand.
