Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, and More attend the Cinema Society’s Screening of Serena.
Jennifer Lawrence at last night’s Dior Beauty sponsored Cinema Society screening of Serena. The Dior Haute Couture clad beauty was referring to Bradley Cooper, of course, her costar in the Susanne Bier–directed 1930s period drama. The pair acted as a husband and wife forging a timber empire in violent tandem in North Carolina in the bleak, industry-minded romance.
The screening brought the likes of Josh Lucas, Tali Lennox, Dylan Lauren, and Vogue’s own Grace Coddington to the East Village’s Landmark Sunshine Cinema. “I read the script while we were working on Silver Linings Playbook,” explained Lawrence just minutes before the screening started, “And any male role is going to make me think of Bradley because he is the best.” “We never [bicker]. Never about where to go to dinner.
Coop did things that still make me laugh,” continued Lawrence. Cooper chimed in, “I respect her so much as a professional, as an actor, and I think she’s the best there is. So I just learn from her. You always want to work with people who are better than you.” The foreboding epic gave way to a party at the Top of the Standard moments after the film let out, with Jason Wu, Dorian Grinspan, and more showing up to dance, snack on mini lobster rolls, and sip champagne. “Honestly, [the beginning of our collaboration] was just happenstance,” reflected Cooper as the night came to a close. “And we all know how that turned out.”
