Evolution of a dandy
Numerous new projects and collaborations of Leonid Alexeev on television and in theatre that allowed him to express his renowned designer’s mastership in new formats lead to his inevitable step to classicism. Alexeev took the tradition of dandys of the nineteenth century and transferred it to our times.
His works are rarely without such traditional elements of clothing from the previous century, as a vest, for example, so Alexeev basically remained true to himself. However, if, in the case of his flared trousers (flared to such extent that gigantic shoes turn out to be completely covered by them), lengthened jackets, smurf-like hats and suits styled like prisoners’ clothes, there is some dualism of comprehension possible; the outerwear by Alexeev is off limits to any criticism. No one else but him can make such jackets or coats with such confidence but at the same time with precision cuts of ultimate quality.
