Holland & Sherry Gets Into Antiques

BRANCHING OUT: Holland & Sherry is now in the antiques business. About a year ago, the fabric firm opened a bespoke store at the back of the Elizabeth Street Gallery, a store in New York’s NoLIta full of architectural objects and statuary, folk art and other unusual, one-of-a-kind pieces. The store, which is like a “speakeasy” for the bespoke shopper, creates custom clothing as well as interiors, accessories such as bags and hats, and even furniture such as pool tables.

Last month, Holland & Sherry took over the operation of the gallery, which is owned by Allan Reiver, and plans call for moving the bespoke store front and center.

On Thursday night, the company hosted a dinner to unveil details of the collaboration and to show off Reiver’s four-story brownstone. The living quarters, which include a master bath from the original St. Regis hotel, a 1904 Beaux Art landmark; an icebox that has been converted to a refrigerator, and a carved collection of railroad cars from the 1930s, were just a few of the gems on display.

Bryan Dicker, president of the interiors division of Holland & Sherry, said the store has been performing well since its opening and the company is looking for partners in Asia as well as at other U.S. cities for additional units.
