Japan Fashion Week is preparing for a major geographical shift to a new part of Tokyo. Event organizers said Tuesday that the official venue for the spring-summer shows, set to take place the week of Oct. 15, will be located within a new retail and entertainment complex called Shibuya Hikarie.
Past editions of the shows used Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi as a base. A couple seasons ago, sponsor Mercedes–Benz opened a showroom across the street from Midtown to accommodate some shows and events.
The Hikarie complex is set to open Thursday. Retailers that will have stores in present include Marc by Marc Jacobs, See by Chloe, United Arrows and Bao Bao Issey Miyake.
