Revelers, including Shala Monroque and Suno’s Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty, came out to support jewelry designer Monique Péan and model Liya Kebede on their recent jewelry collaboration at the very elegant townhouse of Erica Reid, the author and wife of music impresario L.A. Reid. The proceeds from the line’s three pieces support Kebede’s charity, the Liya Kebede Foundation, which focuses its efforts on reducing maternal and newborn deaths in Africa through education and other initiatives. Expectant mother Péan, who was dressed from head to toe in Proenza Schouler and sporting a new, ombré-dipped hairstyle, said, “It was amazing to collaborate with someone I’ve admired for so long.”
Ryan McGinley shot the pieces on Kebede in Iceland for the ad campaign. “Kebede made it look warm and effortless,” exclaimed Péan. The model, in a Lemlem top, Tom Ford trousers, and Proenza Schouler shoes, was equally effusive saying, “[Monique’s] amazing and so sensitive about charity.”
Everyone sampled canapés before a performance by singer Niia, whose EP will be released on October 28 and who was just a bit jittery before she sang for partygoers. “These intimate settings are amazing,” said the singer dressed in Dion Lee, punctuated with Péan drop-chandelier earrings. “They’re a little scarier, though.”
