Met Ball 2014 Red Carpet The Glamorous Dresses

The most talked about evening of the American fashion and entertainment industry known as the Costume Institute Gala or more commonly called the Met Ball took place at the New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Arts. The Met Ball 2014 featured all the renowned people from fashion, TV, music, arts and entertainment. There was a bevy of stars from the catwalk and silver screen showing off their extremely glamorous gala outfits and giving the night a shouting glow. The Met Ball is one of the most exclusive social gatherings of the year and is amongst the biggest fundraising nights within New York. Last year’s reported amount for funds raised in this event was an approximate of nine million dollars. Anybody and everybody of the entertainment and fashion industry joined in this year to celebrate the start of the fashion exhibit this year.

The theme of this year’s event was based on a vintage look inspired by the glitz and glamour of the Forties and Fifties, to honor the late “Charles James”, a British-born fashion designer known as the First American Couturier. The basic theme was “White tie and Decorations” which was an excellent and glamorous choice for the stars to show off their celebrity styles. Men were seen in top hats, tail coats and white ties, while women wore huge elegant long skirted ball gowns. The Met Gala gowns were the highest fashioned and most expensive pieces in town. Celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Emma Stones, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Johny Depp, Rihanna joined the evening and were the highlights.

A huge amount of designers were a part of the evening, some more exclusively standing out as the night’s favorites. Stella McCartney came in flanked by an all-star group, dressed in bespoke versions of her designs – Reese Witherspoon, Cara Delevingne, Rihanna and Kate Bosworth. Oscar de la Renta’s feminine signature gowns were worn by a number of celebrities- seen on Parker, Swift, Kloss, Danes, Allison Williams and Amy Adams. Miuccia Prada worked her magic for Lupita Nyong’o, Margot Robbie, Elizabeth Olsen and Dianna Agron; all of whom arrived dressed in bespoke Prada or Miu Miu creations. Beyonce was seen wearing a sexy Givenchy haute couture by Riccardo Tisci dress with a long tail.

The new fashion exhibit was for the $40 million Anna Wintour Costume Center, name after the Vogue Editor. Anna Wintour since 1995, oversees and holds the event themes, benefit committee and guests lists every year. The Voguen staff assists her in the organization and other tasks. Gala’s glam is compared with the vanity fair of the Oscars, which set to have an all star glam but no fashion panache. Met Gala however, screams at the name of fashion with the highest trending styles of Hollywood and the best selling designers to show off their work.

The event kicked in with the latest styles, colors and trends. It was a party for only the big animals of the jungle. A single ticket of the event cost around 25,000 dollars per guest.
