The Marika brand of women’s activewear and bodywear at FAM Brands, will set up booths and sponsor two fund-raising levels for the 2013 events in both New York and Los Angeles: the $400 and $750 fund-raising initiatives.

This will mark the 20th anniversary of the annual Run/Walk launched in 1994 through the combined efforts of Lilly Tartikoff, Ronald O. Perelman, chairman of Revlon, Inc., and EIF. The event originated in Los Angeles and a second event in New York City was added shortly after.

This year’s Run/Walk will take place in New York on Saturday and in Los Angeles on May 11. The New York race will start in Times Square and finish in Central Park, where there will be a health expo as well as a cancer survivor ceremony. The Los Angeles race will take place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at Exposition Park. Nearly one million men and women have participated in the annual Run/Walk and the events have distributed more than $68 million to support women’s cancer research, counseling and outreach programs.

Carrie Henley, executive vice president of Commerce, Calif.-based Marika, said there will be giveaways as well as products for sale at Marika stands. Participants who raise $400 or more can select a pair of activewear pants by Marika, and fundraisers of $750 will receive a branded performance jacket. “We at Marika want to celebrate today’s resilient women with fashion and functional activewear that they can make part of their lifestyle wardrobe. By combining fitness basics, technically advanced fabrics and functional styling with updated design elements, we have been a popular and growing brand for over 25 years. Our new fitness accessories, help busy women stay in shape at home when getting to the gym is not possible,” said Henley.

National sponsors include title sponsor Revlon, double platinum sponsor Toyota, platinum sponsor Rite Aid, and Georgetown Cupcake and The Walking Company. In addition to Marika, award sponsors include Exhale, Lesportsac, Newton Running and thinkThin.
