The best celebrity street style we’ve spotted at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival

We ogle the street style at Cannes Film Festival as much as its red carpet fashion. Even when they’re off-duty, or clad in casualwear for a photocall, Cannes’ attendees—drawn from an international pool of film stars, directors, and crew—are taking part in a sartorial spectacle.

This, you see, is the fantasy of the French Riviera; European glamour comes in the form of voluminous haute couture and (especially if you’re one Jane Birkin) a white button-up, faded jeans, and Converse. Attitude is everything.

In 2022, the festival opened with a group of Cannes jurors and a selection of global celebrities. Actress Rebecca Hall, who walked the red carpet for Michel Hazanavicius’s comedy Final Cut in red Gucci, chose Burberry for her first photocall.

Hers was a striking look plucked straight from Ricciardo Tisci’s autumn/winter ’22/’23 ready-to-wear collection: a double-breasted blazer, pleated knee-length skirt, and skintight, square toe boots, all in an emerald green bar and orange and yellow floral high-neck top poking out under the lapels.

Fellow Cannes juror Deepika Padukone opted for a similarly rich green, though she sported her shade with a pair of palazzo trousers. A billowing peach blouse by Sabyasachi, worn open at the collar to display an impressively jeweled collar, was accessorized with a headband—the breeziness of Cannes resort-style, coming into play.

As the festival rolls on, we scour the streets of the French Riviera to bring you the best off-carpet celebrity fashion. Below, is a glimpse at this year’s street style.
